ÆSTHESIA Brooklyn Workshop

It’s absolutely crazy that it has taken me this long to share our recap video from the first ever ÆSTHESIA workshop that was hosted in my Brooklyn studio this past February. I am happy to finally be able to share this highlight reel filmed by Ben Cawiezell and Matteo. I look forward to the day that we can host one of these again and come together physically as a community to connect with nature in new and exciting ways, although I must say how proud I am to see of all the people that have taken this time to purchase their 1st, 2nd, or 15th house plant and take their nature relationships to the next level. I hope that all of you have been able to spend some more (albeit, unexpected) time with nature while you’ve been at home; noticing things you didn’t notice before, watching leaves unfurl for the first time and flowers bloom. We’ve seen drastic changes in the world as humans spend more time at home and this should not go unforgotten.

In this recap reel you are seeing a few things happening:

  • I gave a presentation on what Æ is and our initiatives in sensory wellness experiences, environmental activism, and nature therapy.

  • ALURIA gave a workshop with a live Mantara plant provided by Horti. Guests would put on vibration suits with sensors on key pressure points provided by Music:Not Impossible and would touch the plant and feel it’s response streamed directly through to the suits with a Midi Sprout device.

  • Scent from the “Medicinal Flower Collection’ by CB I Hate Perfume was available for guests to smell as they watched the Æ films and tried on the vibration suits.

  • Guests made their own plant art work to take home using Sun Print paper.

This workshop was such a wonderful experience to get to share ÆSTHESIA with a group of inquisitive people. Some had seen the work before at previous installations, and some had never even heard of it. Everyone was so open-minded and genuinely excited to learn something new about nature. This workshop was hands down one of the most beautiful and interactive ways we’ve been able to share this work and we look forward to having more of these types of events in the future in bigger ways! Thank you to everyone that came out and shared your thoughts, Juan and I ended that day with he biggest smiles of accomplishments on our faces.
