The Self / Self-Portraits

2011 - Present

Starting in 2011 I began to photograph myself after getting fed up with the images I was getting back from my job as a fashion model. I felt as though the photos I would get back never truly to captured what I felt like I was portraying when in front of the camera. What began as an outlet to explore modeling and performance on my own terms quickly transitioned into an intense exploration of the self. This series of turning the camera on myself has gone through many phases from instantaneous to high-productions, raw to highly conceptual and fantastical. Each phase has been an important part in understanding my own relationship with presentation and performance and it's relationship with the vessel and expression of the inner self.
